Walpole Co-operative Bank Offers Homebuying Assistance Through Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston’s Programs

Walpole Co-operative Bank has announced they have once again partnered with the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLBank) of Boston to provide access to a range of community lending programs designed to support and bring affordable mortgage solutions to eligible homebuyers in the New England area.

Programs offered by Walpole Co-operative Bank include the Equity Builder Program (EBP), Housing Our Workforce (HOW), and the Freddie Mac Home Possible Program. As part of each program recipients are required to attend a homebuyer education/counseling program.

Most recently, the Bank was approved to participate in the FHLBank’s new Lift Up Homeownership (LUH) program, a special-purpose credit and pilot program designed to provide downpayment and closing cost assistance to Black, American Indian or Alaska Native, Hispanic, Asian, and Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander first-time home buyers. Through LUH, individuals earning up to 120% of the area median income are eligible to receive up to $50,000 in assistance on a first-come, first-served basis. Homebuyers applying to LUH are required to complete a homebuyer counseling program before receiving funds.

“Walpole Co-operative Bank is pleased to continue to partner with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston to help make our neighbors’ dream of owning a home a reality. Through our community lending programs, we can provide affordable mortgage and equity solutions to our neighbors, providing them with the stepping stones they need to acquire the keys to their home-owning dreams,” said Sheila Gonazalez, senior vice president, senior lender.
